and so a new day begins

I am exploring art journaling again.  This morning I was blessed to watch the early morning sky.  I was enthralled with the colors of the  sky this morning and once captured, knew I would blend layers to make an art journal layout with it.  I used linear burn on the Charlize paper to add texture and soft light on the Caravan paper to add the subtle text.

A new creative journey

I am taking Tangie Baxter’s Art Journal Caravan course.  It is the last time she is teaching it.  I have been wanting to mix digital and messy stuff.  I think this will be just the class to help me stretch.  One of the first assignments was to come up with a word for the year.  I had already named 2014 Creativity.  Due to the chaos of moving things around from the flooded basement, the first page of my journal is digital, but I have already printed it and will attach it to the first page of the journal.

I am looking forward to this journey!

First layout for 2014

I started this year with an art journal layout- the challenge was to use 14 items in a combination of frames and fasteners!  Here is what I did: ostash_jan_14

I used digital elements from a variety of Oscraps designers:
Dido Designs  earthSong digital kit
Tracy Martin Bloom and Grow
jOurney :: Oscraps Collaborative Kit
Kitty Designs- all stitched  and 365 Today {Stitches}
JoycePaul Simple Pleasures – Bundle
Maya de Groot Fond of Fasteners  and  Wayfarer  and Creative silhouette
Sue Cummings      52 Inspirations :: 2011 {Basics}
Anna Aspnes  ArtPlay Palette Salty Living  and Embrace Life

I have been taking an online class on blending, and decided when I did this layout for a challenge that the ticket background paper was too strong for the photo.  I used a filter on it to blur it just a bit and it worked the way I had imagined it!

Dec copycat challenge

For the December Oscraps copycat template challenge. Photos I took in Skaneateles, NY on a trip back home.  Isn’t it funny how after you move home is on both sides of the trip?

Fearless journey – the beginning

I began an online course this year called the Fearless Living Training Program with Rhonda Britten. For years I have been unhappy and dissatisfied with certain aspects of my life.   My journal entries through the years seemed to repeat the same things, the same desires to change over and over, without any noticeable change.  My chosen word for 2013 (change), however months into the year, real change had not arrived.  When the opportunity came to join the Fearless Living Training Program arose, I was ready!  I decided to art journal my way through the course, a new page for each module.  The first digital scrapbook page denotes my willingness to go on the journey without knowing where it would lead to, but knowing it was something I must do.

I created this layout with the following kits:

Road Trip Collab by ForeverJoy Designs and Studio Basics Designs

I am so excited to go on this journey and already with the first week am amazed at the depth of the materials and the support.  I believe that this time, I will go the distance.
